Communal effort to enhance the development of our community

Community Bridge is a non political and non-profit organization.

Goal
Initiate and develop a mutually benefiting bond between a community and its institutions.

Background
There are many communities like the township of Uzebba in our country, Nigeria; where the citizens are very educated, prominent and affluent. Late Chief Omo-Bare who retired as Deputy Inspector General of Police hailed from Uzebba, so are Mr. Felix Ohiwerei a prominent business Executive, Festus Okhiku a Deputy Director with NAN, Mr. Olaghere retired Chairman of Afromedia, etc.

Meanwhile, children in Uzebba attend schools in classrooms with leaking roofs; the community hospital is an eyesore and the community in November 2004 made world news from cholera outbreak. The recently tarred road from Uzebba towards Otuo which the community has yearned for since the beginning of civilization is rapidly eroding. These institutions and facilities or infra structures may not be the direct liability of the community; however, the community is the direct beneficiary. Relinquishing the upkeep and sustenance of the facility to inept government agencies has inherently compromised the well being of the community.

The costs of sustaining these institutions and facilities are not prohibitive when addressed appropriately. These communities recognize the values of the institutions and facilities. The resources to sustain and acquire these social amenities can be readily obtained within the community.

Unfortunately, there is a dislocation between these communities and their institutions. The communities and their institution exist as opposing forces instead of complimentary partnership.

Objective
The objective of Community Bridge is to establish programs that would foster complimentary partnership between the communities and their institutions.

Projects
We identify a community need and develop a mechanism to present it to the community for their resolution.
